As part of Design Week 2010, Design Week at the Malthouse presents a collaborative exhibition featuring the Cream of Irish Design, Locker 13, Duff-Tisdall, Phase Design and James Carroll.
This exhibition entitled Imagined/Re-imagined will be launched by renowned Irish architect, Dermot Bannon.
Imagined showcases a selection of pieces hand picked from Ireland’s leading artists and designers as well as carefully selected works from new emerging talents. Each of the selected pieces has been designed and made locally by skilled craftsmen and represents the very best in Irish design today.
Re-imagined highlights the innovation and creativity found right here on our doorstep as some of our most well known designers respond to a brief to create more from less. Through innovation and creativity they will be breathing new life into salvaged materials while turning them into aspirational products. This exhibition demonstrates how post-consumer waste can be re-imagined as sculptural, functional objects.
This celebration of Irish Design will be launched on Tuesday 2nd November at 6 pm with a drinks reception and will run daily until Sunday 7th November 11am- 7pm.
Saturday the 6th November will include a ‘Greenwood Workshop’ by designer/maker James Carroll who will be demonstrating how to make ‘A Leg from a Log’.
